Onimusha: Way of the Sword Walkthrough

Find the route that matches the named mission on your save, then jump to a boss, puzzle or collectible guide when that is the part blocking progress.

Miyamoto Musashi exploring a Malice-twisted shrine

Quick Answer

Start with What to Do First for priorities or the Main Quest Guide for mission objectives. Use Chapter 2 for Kiyomizu, the Genma Lab and Puzzle guides for a specific obstruction, and Side Missions for quest unlock stages. Open Ending & Postgame when preparing for the final sequence or deciding what to do after the credits.

Choose the guide for your current objective

Use the named mission in your log to identify the right route. The Main Quest Guide covers major progression stops; the Kiyomizu guide covers the early temple and Oni Refuge objectives.

For a specific obstruction, go directly to the Puzzle Guide or Genma Lab guide. Those pages cover the mask door, red threads and the Laboratory Armament chest.

Fit optional content around your story route

Before moving to another area, decide whether you are pursuing the main objective, a named side quest or a collection goal. Finish accessible nearby tasks together. If an obstacle requires an ability you do not yet have, note the location and return after that ability opens.

Side Missions groups the activities by story unlock stage. Charm Locations is the faster route when you want one particular reward. Use the Achievement Guide when you are checking completion goals across several systems.

When a fight is blocking the route

Use the boss guide when the problem is an enemy's attack pattern. If you know the response but struggle to perform it, review your controller setup and practice the input separately. If you can survive the fight but struggle to finish it, review your available equipment and build options.

Before trying again, choose one change you can evaluate: an opening to punish, a more comfortable input or a relevant enhancement. Keep the rest of your approach familiar so the next attempt tells you whether it helped.

Prepare for the finale and cleanup

Use Side Missions to plan quest rewards, Hidden Chests for Armament detours and the Kyoto Map Guide for return stops. Before starting The Clash at Rendaino, make a separate manual save and finish the activities you want.

The campaign has one ending. After the credits, Continue returns you before the final mission, while New Game Plus starts another campaign.
